Duaa Qishta

Duaa Qishta grew up in Palestine, on the Gaza Strip, where women are raised following strict social and religious codes, centered around appearance. Sharing her dreams of emancipation and using Théodore Géricault’s paintings as a starting point – war scenes with strong, brave horsemen – the artist imagines herself as a knight on a bicycle in battle against her society (in Gaza, she was never allowed to ride a bicycle). In Paris, she bought her first bicycle, which she she left locked up for the entire duration of the lockdown.

Ashes

Alaa Sndyan

In our home, we have all that we need. We have beds, printed bedsheets, curtains full of colors and everything we need. A couch, a TV, lamps, a cute and big kitchen. The seing is marvelous. In our home, we are safe. We are terrified, a monster can come in from anywhere. We have fire that can burn us all. I our home, love comes after a night full of insults. We have a mother, a sister or maybe a daughter that has lost her life.

Re-post modernism

Cristóbal Ochoa

During the confinement, Cristóbal Ochoa took an interest in the way in which French people write on social networks. He collected screenshots of posts found on Facebook, deliberately preserving the grammatical and spelling errors. He then reproduced these screenshots onto canvas, to highlight this new form of communication. Placed in the public space and taken out of their original  context, the sentences take on a more reflective dimension. To conclude a sale or get in touch with the artist, contact details can be found on the back each piece.
